Cellulite is formed by toxin build up in the body. It can be stored all over a persons body including the stomach, thighs, buttocks, hips, and arms. Cellulite gives the skin a cottage cheese dimpled look.

Healthy eating can help rid a person of cellulite by breaking it down and detoxifying the body to prevent future build up.

Include foods that strengthen the skin, improve circulation, rid the body of toxins, and fight cellulite. Organic fruits and vegetables can help reduce cellulite by cleansing the body of excess toxins. A person should look for foods that are high in protein, fiber, contain essential fatty acids, lecithin, and are high in antioxidant vitamins such as A, C, and E.

Eating fresh fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, cranberries, cherries, and raspberries can help reduce cellulite. These fruits contain vitamins, minerals, and water that cleanse and hydrate the skin.

Fruits such as grapefruits and oranges are also ideal because contain lecithin which is used to strengthen the skin. Bananas and mangos reduce fluid retention and also improve blood circulation. Fruits such as cantelope melons, kiwi fruit, and grapes combat free radicals that are commonly found in fried foods, smoked foods, alcohol, and cigarette smoke.

Vegetables that help reduce the appearance of cellulite by strengthening the skin include carrots, tomatoes, bell peppers, spinach, salad leaves, and cauliflower. Vegetables such as cucumers and asparagus fight water retention. Onions can be added to all sorts of food dishes and help release water buildup from skin cells.

High fiber foods such as red kidney beans, lentils, and peas fight inflamation within the connective tissues which cause cell wall deterioration.

Nuts and seeds contain fatty acids that can repair skin tissue. They also contain vitamin B-complex and vitamin E. Some nuts and seeds that help fight cellulite include walnuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, poppy seeds, and pumpkin seeds. Too many nuts can be fattening so it is important for a person to monitor how much they eat and always choose the unsalted versions.

Foods such as skim milk and poultry help boost a persons collagen levels. Eggs also help detoxify and hydrate the skin.

A person should also drink 8-10 glasses of drinking water or mineral water to flush toxins that are stored in the fat and water also hydrates the skin.

Foods to avoid include processed or canned convenience foods. Other foods to avoid include chocolate, pastries, chips, and carbonated drinks. A person should also limit their coffee intake and focus on clear liquids such as water and tea. Salt intake should also be limited because the sodium increases a persons water retention.

Foods should be chosen based upon nutritional value. The right foods can heal and repair the body and provide radiant and firm skin.
