Do you have symptoms of gluten intolerance? Have you ever tested for it?
If you were allergic to gluten, I would accept an argument your friend is making. However, if this is another ingredient in wheat that you are allergic to, then perhaps you should ask your friend for a more detailed explanation and share it with me. I, too, would like to find out why she thinks that oats may be bad for you in the long run.

If you eat oats every day, and feel great, it's a good reason to continue doing so. Dramatic changes of established habits increase stress on your body as it has to get used to a new type of food. Oats are a fantastic health food, and if I were you, I won't give up eating them without a compelling reason.
